My dog will have to be put down. :/
She will be 13 this June.
I didn't realize how bad her teeth had become, as she still ate happily and seemed fine. She is aging though and I brought her in because she just didn't seem right. Before the vet would even order lab work, she said the teeth needed to be extracted. I finally got a look and ... wow. It's so bad. putrifying. :/
I love her so much and I feel like the worst owner in the world for not realizing how bad her gums had become.
When I got Daisy 13 years ago, I didn't think ahead to the financial obligations. I tried my best over the years and put her on the best food (because it actually does help as a preventive measure)
Her coat is glorious and shiny, her ears and eyes are good... but her teeth will run us 1400-2200 .
So. The vet said that she really needs to be let go if this can't be done. She told me with no sugar-coating anything. She told me she wouldnt waste my money on bloodwork etc, which is what I had gone in there for, because first and foremost is getting the teeth pulled. Before the infection spreads... unless it has and that's why she seems 'off'
The years I spent as a single mom, Daisy was there to listen, and to love, even if I screwed up constantly and did everything wrong.
I wish I could give that back to her. That same devotion.
<3
And I want to ease her pain.
